Tansania is among the countries with the highest rate of children beeing born with birth defects like Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. We believe that education and training of both parents and medical personel can help to reduce the number of children beeing born with this defect and help those who are suffering of this condition.

Twice yearly we are organizing special educational weeks for parents and staff to train them in continence management and detection of early signs of infection and medical complications. We need parents to become the experts for their children to survive. We also focuse on community based prevention and education to teach mothers how this condition can be prevented and where to find help. Moreover we are giving basic skill training to medical personel to improve treatment and follow up of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus patients in Haydom.
